things i liked
Dec. 18th, 2018 01:12 amSome things I've liked recently:
- behind sigil's doors: a leonardo de montreal fanmix that
caramelchameleon did for a hurt/comfort bingo thing (also reading/listening/etc. their leonardo stuff more generally is really making that boy dear to my heart)
- Xeno: Letters from Hoenn by
sophiecognito, an epistolary fic about a young lesbian(?) reluctantly transplanted from Johto to Hoenn going on a Pokémon-training journey in her gap year between high school and college. There's a lot of really fun interactions between her and her mon, as well as some people she meets along the way. there's some of that that-ex-that-just-destroys-you-whenever-you-have-the-misfortune-to-stumble-across-or-be-forced-to-think-of-them, which, i can relate, Laurel, igi. (additional content warnings for mon death, rough financial situations, strained family situations (mostly just, like, awkward and distant rather than anything more intense)) (oh, also i'm unfortunately not sure how screen-reader-friendly it is, since some of it is screenshots of text messages which might or might not have text alternatives)
- she-ra and the princesses of power s1! i watched it with my fiancée and we liked it a bunch ( very light spoilers )
- the strange case of starship iris. wlw? ☑️ aliens who don't get human gender structures? ☑️ trans people? ☑️ very charming space smugglers? ☑️ horrible repressive governments and the folks who oppose them? ☑️ idk i just love this a lot and it basically started me on listening to podcasts again
- season 1 of the penumbra podcast. another science-fiction (mostly) podcast, this time mostly noir-y and with significantly less aliens and gender (as in, significantly less remaining of contemporary gender systems) and significantly more mlm and planetary events. similar amounts of aliases and shit going wrong
