rules for my Yellow Nuzlocke

1. All Pokémon must be nicknamed.
2. If a Pokémon is defeated in battle it may not be used for the rest of the game.
   1. Losing a battle is game over.
3. Only the first wild Pokémon encountered in an area may be captured and used.
   1. Gift clause: Gift Pokémon do not count as an encounter.
   2. Dupes clause: If an encounter is a Pokémon of a species that was already captured, it does not count.
   3. Intentionally abusing 3.2 to control what mons you get is cheesy and therefore impermissible as a vegan.
   4. Girl’s Club: ♂️ Pokémon don’t count either. (this rule is omitted because only two Pokémon have planetary alignments in Yellow.
   5. Shinies can always be caught and used.
   6. Wild Pokémon encountered before it is possible to catch any Pokémon do not count as your first encounter in an area.
4. Level caps:
   1. Pokémon that exceed the level of the next Gym Leader's ace Pokémon as of the start of the battle cannot be used in trainer battles.
   2. The Elite Four may not be entered with Pokémon whose level exceeds that of the final Elite Four member's ace.
   3. It is permissible to use Rare Candies before battling the Champion as long as no Pokémon exceed the level of the Champion's ace.
5. Set Mode must be used.

After a bit of a delay because I accidentally reset without having saved since before Koga... so I had to redo both of those gyms (they went basically the same), I visited the Safari Zone and obtained HM03 and HM04 (Surf and Strength). I also caught a Dratini fishing in the Safari Zone that I named Dragon. I don't know whether I'll use them or not.

Now I'm gonna surf for Cinnabar Island! On Route 19, I caught Jellyfish the Tentacool, and on Route 20 Starfish the Staryu.

On Cinnabar, I visited the ruined Pokémon Mansion, where I caught a Ditto that I named Blob. There, I found a key to the Cinnabar Gym. Then Carp took care of Blaine, no problem.

I return to Viridian City, which now has a Gym Leader again, though it remains a mystery who that might be. After getting through the gym's trainers, it turns out to be Giovanni! Leader of Team Rocket! Hiding out here planning to get back to his schemes! But I defeat him again (thanks to Carp and Shrew). I think he might be done causing trouble for now... It's time for me to head toward the Pokémon League! In the next chapter, anyway.

Summary

New Pokémon: Dragon (Dratini), Jellyfish (Tentacool), Starfish (Staryu), Blob (Ditto).

Important battles: Blaine defeated, Volcano Badge obtained. Giovanni defeated at his gym, all eight badges earned!

Important items: HM03, HM04.
